Jennifer Finnigan

Jerry Bruckheimer's legal drama Close To Home stars Jennifer Finnigan as Annabeth Chase, an aggressive young prosecutor who is determined to maintain her perfect conviction record after having her first child.

Finnigan (who is best known as Bridget Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful) can empathise with her character about balancing the personal and the professional. She is currently juggling a demanding new role, planning her own wedding and learning how to hold a baby convincingly.

She recently got engaged to actor Jonathan Silverman and is struggling to get her wedding off the ground. We're enjoying being engaged," she says, "and frankly, with the start of this new show, the hours are so intense that planning a wedding is proving impossible.

The wedding plans may even bring her to New Zealand. Silverman popped the question on a holiday here. "One of my favourite places in the world is New Zealand, and he took me there for Christmas. Christmas Eve, he got down on his knee and pulled out a little box," she says.

Finnigan and Silverman don't have children so she had to do some research to get to grips with her diminutive co-stars. "I spent a lot of time holding the babies - we use twins - because I wanted to feel natural with them. I was like, 'How do I hold the head?' because they're so fragile. Fortunately, their mom was there and told me exactly how to do it!

Finnigan admits that the role of Annabeth is pretty much her dream role. "Female characters as strong as this are hard to find on TV and in film, especially in a procedural drama. To be able to spend almost half the show on their personal lives and see that vulnerability and that softer side at home provides an opportunity to really flesh out a character," she says.
